Santiago de Chile - is a city of contrasts. It impresses with buildings in colonial style as well as modern high-rise buildings. This combination makes the city appear as one of the most interesting capitals in all of South America.

At the beginning of your round trip, you will drive to the center of the city until you reach the Alameda, the main street that is right in the heart of the city. In this main street you can see old, important buildings, such as the Government Palace La Moneda, the Universidad de Chile, the Church of San Francisco, the National Library and the Santa Lucia Hill, where Santiago was founded in 1541. In the city center, you will also visit the main square with its cathedral and the old post office. As you make your way through Santiago, you'll continue to the Mercado Central, the main fish and seafood market. Following the Alameda you cross the Río Mapocho. Drive through the bohemian and nightlife district of Bellavista to the Cerro San Cristóbal viewpoint. From here you have a fantastic view over Santiago's seemingly endless sea of houses and the impressive backdrop of the nearby High Cordillera. A visit to the modern residential areas of Vitacura, Las Condes and the business and shopping district of Providencia complete your visit to the capital.

Upon arrival, reception at Calama airport by the local guide and transfer to the hotel in San Pedro de Atacama (1h 30min).

San Pedro de Atacama is located 2,438m above sea level in a green oasis in the middle of the Atacama Desert. The small town is located on the former Incastraβe that connected Cuzco with central Chile at the time of the Inca occupation. It is also home to the Father Le Paige Museum, which bears the name of its founder. More than 4,000 skulls, weapons and stone ceramics fascinate visitors here.

A very special highlight awaits you this evening: you can admire the sunset in the "Valle de la Luna" (Moon Valley). From the highest dune in the valley, there are fantastic views over bizarrely shaped desert rocks to the backdrop of snow-capped volcanoes on the horizon, of which the perfectly shaped cone of Licancabur is the most impressive.

South of San Pedro, against the fantastic backdrop of snow-capped volcanic peaks, lies the Salar de Atacama, a salt lake of about 3000 square kilometers. This seemingly hostile environment is an intact refuge for flamingos. You will watch the beautiful birds in search of food and then drive to nearby Toconao. The village with only about 546 inhabitants has a very beautiful colonial church from the 18th century with a free-standing bell tower. Characteristic of Toconao is the white volcanic rock Liparita used here. People use it to build their houses and to make beautiful, small figurines that are sold in the main square.

Frühmorgens gegen 04:00 Uhr Abfahrt zu den über 100 Geysiren von El Tatio in der Nähe der bolivianischen Grenze. El Tatio ist ein geo-thermisches Feld auf ca. 4500m Höhe. Hier kann jeden Morgen das spektakuläre Aufsteigen der Wasserdampfstrahlen, das pünktlich zum Sonnenaufgang beginnt, beobachtet werden. Kochend heiße Gischt schießt dabei aus der gefrorenen Erde hoch in die klare Andenluft und bietet einen atemberaubenden Anblick.

Early in the morning around 04:00 departure to the more than 100 geysers of El Tatio near the Bolivian border. El Tatio is a geo-thermal field at an altitude of about 4500m. Here, every morning, the spectacular rise of the water vapor jets, which begins punctually at sunrise, can be observed. Boiling hot spray shoots out of the frozen earth high into the clear Andean air and offers a breathtaking sight.

Followed by a visit to the Viña Undurraga winery. The winery was founded in 1885 by Don Francisco Undurraga. He was one of the pioneers of viticulture and winemaking in Chile. In his youth, he traveled to Europe, where he studied law and painting. On the way back to Chile, he brought back vines from France (Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Pinot Noir) and from Germany (Riesling and Gewürztraminer). In honor of his wife Ana, he named the vineyard "Santa Ana". Under the supervision of a French viticulture expert, the first vines were planted. They easily and well adapted to the Chilean climate. The Chilean vine is the only "pre-phylloxera" vine in the world. Miraculously, Chile was not attacked by this beetle, which completely destroyed European vineyards towards the end of the 19th century. Viña Undurraga has taken special care in the development of its vineyards. The agricultural activity is spread over four plots with a total area of 2500 hectares. The winery is surrounded by a park designed by a French artist. Visit the old bodegas and the beautiful Casona. You will learn about the cultivation of the grapes and the storage of the fine wines. Finally, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a wine tasting.

The classic guided tour includes a complete tour of the park, including the Aliwen corner, the vineyards, the soil analysis pit, the winemaking plant, the pleasure garden and the underground cellars, and ends with a great tasting of 3 Reserva wines (brands subject to availability) and a wine glass as a gift.

Before heading to Puerto Varas, embark on an orienting city tour of Puerto Montt.

Puerto Montt - The port city was founded in 1850 on the bay of Reloncaví by mainly German immigrants. Even today, the great influence of the Germans on the region can be seen in the local construction of the houses. Puerto Montt lives mainly from its important port, salmon farming and forestry.

You will drive to Puerto Montt's most important square, the Plaza de Armas. The cathedral standing here is considered the oldest building in the entire region. From a vantage point high above the city, there is a magnificent view of the wide bay of Reloncaví to Isla Tenglo and the strait of the same name. Afterwards we go to the fish and seafood market Angelmo at the port. Fresh fish, curious species of living sea creatures, as well as cheese, sausages and handicrafts are offered for sale.

Afterwards transfer to the hotel in Puerto Varas.

Puerto Varas - located on Lake Llanquihue and overlooking the impressive snow-capped Osorno volcano. In the place, which is located in the middle of a beautiful landscape, you can still feel the strong German influence that can be traced back to the first immigrants.

7. Tag: Puerto Varas

Auf einer ca. einstündigen Fahrt entlang des Lago Llanquihue bestaunen Sie die üppige Landschaft des Seengebietes. Fast scheint es, als ob die Zeit stehen geblieben sei. Sie passieren das kleine Dorf Ensenada um schliesslich die Petrohué Wasserfälle zu erreichen. Hier erwartet Sie ein imposantes Naturspektakel - blau schimmerndes, brausendes Wasser, welches mit unglaublicher Kraft und Geschwindigkeit die Felsen herabstürzt (ca. 30min Aufenthalt).

Danach erreichen Sie Petrohué, den westlichen Hafen des spektakulären Sees Todos los Santos (Allerheiligensee). Dort gehen Sie an Bord eines Katamarans, der sie in knapp 2h über den Lago Todos Los Santos bis nach Peulla bringen wird.

Der smaragdgrün schimmernde See ist für viele Besucher der schönste See Chiles. Sie geniessen herrliche Ausblicke auf die Vulkane Osorno, Puntiagudo und Tronador und passieren ausgedehnte, stille Wälder und rauschende Wasserfälle. Der Aufenthalt in in dem kleinen Ort Peulla dauert ca. 3h 30min (Sommer), ca. 3h (Winter).

Sie können eine Wanderung auf dem Naturlehrpfad zur „Cascada de la Novia“ unternehmen, der mitten durch den Valdivianischen Regenwald zu einem wundervollen Wasserfall führt. Ausserdem gibt es die Möglichkeit vor Ort verschiedene Aktivitäten wie z.B. Canopy, Reiten, Kajak fahren wahrzunehmen (nicht eingeschlossen) und damit den Aufenthalt in Peulla unvergesslich zu machen. Natürlich haben Sie auch Gelegenheit ein Mittagessen im Hotel Natura zu geniessen (nicht eingeschlossen), um danach bei einem Spaziergang zu entspannen. Anschliessend Rückfahrt nach Puerto Varas.

The emerald green shimmering lake is for many visitors the most beautiful lake in Chile. You will enjoy magnificent views of the Osorno, Puntiagudo and Tronador volcanoes and pass through extensive, silent forests and rushing waterfalls. The stay in the small town of Peulla lasts about 3h 30min (summer), about 3h (winter). You can take a hike on the nature trail to the "Cascada de la Novia", which leads through the middle of the Valdivian rainforest to a wonderful waterfall. There is also the possibility to take part in various activities such as canopy, horseback riding, kayaking (not included) on site and thus make your stay in Peulla unforgettable. Of course, you will also have the opportunity to enjoy lunch at the Hotel Natura (not included) and then relax with a walk. Afterwards return to Puerto Varas.

Begleiten Sie uns auf diesem ganztägigen Ausflug, auf dem Sie den nördlichen Teil der Insel Chiloé besuchen werden. Bei einer 30 minütigen Schiffsfahrt durch den Chacao-Kanal können Sie eine Vielzahl von Vögeln beobachten. Sie erreichen das Dorf Chacao und besichtigen den Markplatz und die Kirche des Dorfes. Danach fahren Sie in Richtung Dalcahue, wo Sie eine Stunde im Bereich der Küstenstraße halten werden, um zu wandern und um den Handwerksmarkt, das lokale Museum und die Kirche zu besuchen. Entlang der Küstenstraße Llao Llau fahren Sie weiter in Richtung Castro, mit einem Halt zum Mittagessen. Anschliessend erreichen Sie Rio Gamboas mit den Palafitos (Pfahlbauten), dem Hauptplatz des Dorfes und der Kirche. Am Ende Ihres Ausfluges besuchen Sie die letzte Kirche ihrer Tour in der Stadt Nercón.

9. Tag: Puerto Varas - Puerto Montt - Punta Arenas

Genießen Sie eine wunderschöne Panoramafahrt entlang des Llanquihue Sees, vorbei an deutschen Einwandererhäusern und schönen Gärten nach Frutillar (zu deutsch: “Erdbeerweiler”). Der Ort ist ein Freilichtmuseum deutscher Kultur in Chile: gut erhaltene, schön restaurierte Bauten, wie man sie auch im Schwarzwald finden könnte, prägen das Bild.

Besuchen Sie das Museo Colonial Alemán, in dem die Geschichte der Einwanderer in Bildern, Handwerkzeugen und Maschinen liebevoll bewahrt werden! Zur Anlage gehört ein Freilichtmuseum mit der Nachbildung eines typischen Einwandererhauses. Verlieren Sie sich vor allem entlang der aromatischen Straße Philippi, an der Restaurants und Teehäuser konzentriert liegen, welche den berühmten Strudel und die mit Erdbeeren, Himbeeren und anderen schmackhaften Früchten des Südens gefertigten Obstkuchen anbieten.

Optional: Osorno Vulkan Tour (4h)

Verlassen Sie Puerto Varas und fahren Sie ca. 60 km in die Seenregion. Genießen Sie die malerischen Landschaften, die an den Llanquihue-See grenzen. Erreichen Sie das Dorf Ensenada am Fuße des Vulkans Osorno und beginnen Sie Ihren Aufstieg. Machen Sie unterwegs Pausen, um den Panoramablick auf den Fluss Petrohué, das Tal, einen riesigen Krater und den Llanquihue-See zu genießen. Erreichen Sie das Skizentrum und fahren Sie optional mit dem Sessellift, um von oben eine noch bessere Aussicht zu haben.

Morgens findet eine halbtägige Stadtrundfahrt durch Punta Arenas statt.

Um 1900 zählte Punta Arenas wegen seiner strategisch günstigen Lage zu den bedeutendsten Hafenstädten der Neuen Welt. Zu jener Zeit mussten alle Schiffe noch Kap Hoorn umrunden und in Punta Arenas anlegen. Viele gut erhaltene Bauwerke lassen den damaligen Reichtum der Stadt bis heute spürbar werden. Sie lernen auf Ihrer Rundfahrt die schöne Avenida Independencia kennen und können dabei die zahlreichen Monumente am Straßenrand bewundern. Dann geht es zum Aussichtspunkt des Cerro La Cruz, wo Sie einen tollen Blick über die bunten Dächer der Stadt bis zur Magellanstraße und nach Feuerland haben.

Zum Abschluss halten Sie an der Plaza Muñoz Gamero, in deren Mitte das Ehrenmal für Hernando de Magallanes, umringt von Indianern, steht. Man sagt, wenn man die Zehe eines Indianers küsst, kehrt man nach Punta Arenas zurück!

Anschließend Transfer zum Busbahnhof.

Mit dem öffentlichen Bus (ohne Reiseleitung) geht es anschließend in Richtung Norden durch die endlose patagonische Steppe und vorbei an Flüssen, Wäldern und Schaffarmen. Ziel der Reise ist Puerto Natales, das hauptsächlich als Ausgangspunkt für einen Besuch des Nationalparks Torres del Paine und des Balmaceda-Gletschers dient.

After breakfast, you will set off on a full-day tour through the Torres del Paine National Park, which is located 150km northwest of Puerto Natales. This nature reserve is one of the most impressive that the south of Chile has to offer. You will drive through a landscape of lakes, bizarre mountain formations and snow-capped peaks and visit the Salto Grande waterfall, among other things. On the way to Paine Park, tour Milodon Cave, where a gigantic prehistoric sloth was discovered. A replica of the giant sloth was placed at the cave entrance.

12. Tag: Puerto Natales – Paine Nationalpark – Puerto Natales

Nach dem Frühstück brechen Sie zu einer Ganztagestour durch den Nationalpark Torres del Paine auf, der 150km nordwestlich von Puerto Natales liegt. Dieses Naturschutzgebiet zählt zu dem Eindrucksvollsten, was der Süden Chiles zu bieten hat. Sie fahren durch eine Landschaft aus Seen, bizarren Bergformationen und schneebedeckten Gipfeln und besuchen u.a. den Salto Grande Wasserfall. Auf dem Weg in den Paine Park besichtigen Sie die Milodon-Höhle, in der ein gigantisches prähistorisches Faultier entdeckt wurde. Eine Nachbildung des Riesenfaultiers wurde am Höhleneingang aufgestellt.
